The mission of the HIV/AIDS
Ministry Program is to provide spiritual support, education,
and outreach with and for persons living with HIV/AIDS and
their families, partners, and friends. Ministry will be provided
regardless of gender, race, economic status, sexual orientation,
age or religion. Pastoral care will be provided in a confidential
and non-judgmental manner. The call to unconditional love
will be based on the total needs (body, mind and spirit) of
the individual, the family, partner or friends. All calls
and contacts are confidential.
Spiritual Support
We provide direct pastoral care by:
- giving one-on-one support
- offer home and hospital visitation
- assistance with prayer, funeral, and memorial services
- provide a day of reflection and retreat
- offer continued support due to loss and bereavement
- help make contact with parish communities to receive
sacraments or support
Education
Our goal is to provide education through basic presentations
on HIV/AIDS. These presentations afford an opportunity to
diminish myths and unbiased fears and state the facts of the
disease. We strive to promote an informed and compassionate
response to those living with HIV/AIDS and those who love
them.
Outreach
We offer practical support
to those infected and affected with HIV/AIDS with the following
services:
- provide
financial assistance for food, household items, furniture,
medical bills, car repairs, etc.
- provide
transportation to medical appointments, support groups,
grocery shopping, etc.
- provide
support through the Shared Bread Program
- provide
information on area support groups and referrals for HIV
testing
