Adoption

Catholic Charities has been helping birth mothers and adoptive families for over half a century. We help families prepare for an adoptive child, whether an infant, a child with special needs, or an international child.

We have experienced professionals to help you every step of the way, from your first questions to post placement follow-up. We approach each participant with love and respect, helping to ensure the very best choice is made for both birth parents and the adoptive family, so that each child may experience the most enriching environment in which to live and grow.

It is our belief that children, either through adoption or being raised by birth parents, need unconditional love, security, and stability if they are to reach their full potential in life. Not only does a child have a right to life, but also to a life free from abuse, neglect, or other damaging situations.

Creating Families Through Adoption

In serving families who choose to build their family through adoption, Catholic Charities provides many different Adoption Services.

  • Domestic Agency Infant Adoptions: families desiring to adopt a domestic infant
  • Independent Adoptions: birth parents and families who met without agency assistance and need help in completing their adoption process
  • Special Needs Adoptions: families who are interested in adoption an older child who has been in the foster care system
  • Step-Parent Adoptions: step-parents wanting to become legal parents of their step children
  • Relative Adoptions: close family members who choose to adopt a related child
  • International Adoptions: families interested in adopting a child from another country

Catholic Charities is here for you, helping to build fruitful, caring relationships after the adoption as well. To read more about our post-adoption services, visit us at Friends of Adoption.

What can I expect?

You can expect honesty and professionalism. Our agency is licensed by the State of Wisconsin to provide quality family services. Birth parents receive services for free. Adoptive families must complete a home study. A federal tax credit will help offset the fees charged for Catholic Charities' services. Catholic Charities strives to complete the adoption process as quickly as possible. We hope that this will be a joyous time for all involved.

How can I get more information? Contact any one of our five offices, or call your local Catholic parish.
